Lesson 1 Reflection
1. Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
I am most proud of the fact I was able to explain difficult concepts in a concise manner that was comprehensible (even if only slightly). They say you don't understand a concept totally until you can teach it!
2. Questions to Consider
a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)
P+
b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
I was professional during my presentation, maintaining eye contact with the audience, and speaking very loud. The audience was responsive which indicated I was clear enough to understand. To further establish the audience's understanding, I made sure everyone had a flier that hopefully instilled a better overall understanding of astrophysics.
The foundation was very strong for my lesson. It began with an activity to gauge how much about astronomy the audience knew, hopefully giving them something to relate to. IA multitude of astrophysical concepts were explained, from nebulae to the Big Bang, and sources were given to support them. I also included a thorough overview of my mentorship at UCLA and had the material I used to elaborate.
3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
The visuals.
4. (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
More organization. I spurted out facts and concepts without any flow.I would have realized this if I practiced in front of an audience beforehand.
