Third Answer

EQ:
What is the most effective way to identify a primordial black hole?

Answer #3:The most effective way to identify a primordial black hole is to observe the surfaces of known astronomical objects for ripples that could represent primordial black holes.

3 details to support the answer:

1) The gravitational pull of primordial black holes alters how light bends.
2) Light bends according to specific patterns according to what "bends" it.
3) There are many objects in space whose appearance is known, and any changes would be detectable.

The research source (s) to support your details and answer:
Staff. "Primitive Black Holes Could Shine Light on Dark Matter | Dark Matter & Dark Energy | Black Holes & The Big Bang | Space.com." Space. 26 Sept. 2011. Web. 05 Mar. 2015.

Concluding Sentence:
This is probably the least effective method.

Holiday Project Update

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you do over the break with your senior project?

The essence of the senior project is to continuously make progress in the field you are interested. It isn't about isolated projects and presentations. The senior project is an opportunity to slowly immersing ourselves into what could potentially be our future.
I looked over a few journals and articles over my break. However, I didn't really work on my senior project like I wished I would have. I was still productive so I forgive myself.

2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why?  What was the source of what you learned?

I learned about the winter solstice! I had no idea it was the longest night and shortest day of the year. I learned about it here on the EarthSky website. I enjoy learning about astronomy facts because I lack a fundamental understanding of it.

3.  If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?

I would talk to a professor at a liberal arts college. I am applying to many liberal arts schools and I feel it would answer my questions about astrophysics and give me insight on what to expect from my education.

Essential Question

I reviewed the rule of three for writing an EQ.

  • Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
  • Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
  •  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)
2.  Review the following EQs and
  • Tell us if each meets the rule of three.
  • Tell why they do or don't.
 a.  What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
  • Provides a framework around health
  • Argues weight loss can be healthy
  • Comprehendible
 b.  What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
  • Provides a framework around investigative studies
  • Has a pro-justice stance

  • Emphasizes importance of keeping customer happy
  • Comprehensible
 d.  How can an anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
  • Framework pertains to anesthesiology
  • Argues treating pain is important
  • Comprehensible

The most important article I have read is the journal by Dong Zhang about Impact of primordial ultracompact minihaloes on the intergalactic medium. It is the basis of my mentoship and the work I am doing.
